Toyota’s Corolla sedan is the most popular vehicle ever, so it couldn’t hurt the company to offer more variations on it, right? With some thought like that in the minds of Toyota executives, the wagon version of the famous model – the Corolla Fielder – was launched in 2000.
The Toyota Corolla Fielder maintains its namesake’s overall essence but changes things up in terms of features and functionality. The wagon places the same emphasis on fuel efficiency, reliability and value for money as the famous sedan does, but fits five people and provides exceptional rear storage for carrying plenty of odds and ends.
Easy to drive and ready for hauling, the Corolla Fielder offers a great solution for transporting the whole family and fitting in everyone’s things at the same time, from sports gear and furniture to groceries and pretty much everything in between.
Toyota Corolla Fielder Model Years
The First Generation: 2000 – 2006
The first generation of the Toyota Corolla Fielder takes many exterior design cues from the Toyota Corolla sedan it shares a name with, expanding on its carrying capacity with 20mm of added length and 50mm in added height.
The Second Generation: 2006 – 2012
The second generation of the Toyota Corolla Fielder keeps the same chassis as the previous model and features a similar exterior, but each of the vehicle’s components have been improved. Loading capacity is increased thanks to one-touch storable rear seats, which can be easily removed to free up room in the back of the vehicle.
The Third Generation: 2012 – Present
In 2012, the Toyota Corolla Fielder got a full model overhaul. Overall body size was reduced thanks to a new chassis, while more usable interior space has been squeezed in despite the smaller frame. The third generation model boasts a trunk loading capacity of 872L.
For models produced in March 2015 and onwards, the “Toyota Safety Sense C” safety package option is available. This includes a Pre-Collision System (PCS) and Lane Departure Alert (LDA) to increase driver vigilance and prevent accidents, as well as an Automatic High Beam (AHM) system, which detects light levels and automatically toggles between high beams and low beams accordingly.
Displacement
“Displacement” refers to how much air is displaced by an engine’s pistons. In most cases, it is measured in cubic centimeters (cc). Larger engine displacements mean more power, generally speaking. Lower engine displacements tend to indicate better fuel economy. The Toyota Corolla Fielder comes in two displacements:
- The 1.5L engine and hybrid variants have a displacement of 1,496 cc.
- The 1.8L engine variant has a displacement of 1,795 cc

Transmission
There are 2 automatic and 2 manual configurations in the Toyota Corolla Fielder model range.
Automatic
- CVT: “CVT” stands for continuously variable transmission. CVTs keep a continuous angular velocity. They cycle through a continuous set of gear intervals, instead of a fixed number as in a traditional automatic transmissions. This means an overall smoother ride and better uphill climbing.
- 4AT: “AT” means the vehicle has an automatic transmission. The 4 in front of “AT” means there are 4 forward gear ratios. In automatic transmissions, gear changes happen as the vehicle moves without the need for driver input.
Manual
- 5MT: “MT” means the vehicle has a manual transmission. The 5 in front means there are 5 forward gear ratios. In manual transmissions, the driver manually shifts gears with the assistance of the clutch.
- 6MT: This is the 6 forward gear ratio version of the manual transmission.

The vast majority of Toyota Corolla Fielder models come with 5 doors. An exception is the X HID EXTRA LIMITED grade model, which has 4 doors.
Grade
The Toyota Corolla Fielder comes in a large variety of configurations. Overall, there are 4 different “grades”, separated by their level of extra offerings. Here’s a brief overview of the grade terms you’ll see thrown around to get you pointed in the right direction:
1.5L variants
- 1.5X
- 1.5G
- 1.5G AEROTOURER
“1.5” refers to the displacement volume of the engine. These models all have 1.5L engines with a displacement of about 1,500 cc.
The “X” refers to the X grade model. This is the base grade, or the economy configuration without any higher end add-ons.
The “G” refers to the fact it is a G grade model, which has automatic climate control, steering wheel controls, as well as a tachometer. The tachometer counts the RPM (rotations per minute) of the engine’s crankshaft, allowing the driver more information to select the appropriate speed and gear for the driving conditions.
“AEROTOURER” is the name of an enhanced, streamlined front grill available for the Toyota Corolla Fielder. This grill is designed to improve aerodynamic flow and engine cooling.
1.8L variants
- 1.8S
- 1.8S WxB
“1.8” refers to the displacement volume of the engine. These models all have 1.8L engines with a displacement of about 1,800 cc.
“WxB” refers to a “white and black” grill detail variant, giving a sharp sense of presence.
Hybrid variants

- HYBRID G AEROTOURER
“HYBRID” means both an internal combustion engine and an electric motor power the vehicle. Hybrid cars have better fuel economy than purely gasoline or diesel counterparts and are better for the environment.
Luxury grade variants
LUXEL
The “Luxel” is the high-end package version of the Corolla Fielder. Apart from the features of the G model – automatic climate control, steering wheel controls and tachometer – the Luxel features the most plush interior and upgraded instrument panels.
